Even though a decision on the inclusion of Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's vocals in the film is yet to be taken, Vashu Bhagnani's Welcome To New York has courted controversy yet again. Citing the inappropriate lyrics of the track, Pant Mein Gun, Sikh petitioner Jasjeet Singh has registered an FIR against leading man Diljit Dosanjh, who has also lent his voice to the song.
Singh has apparently alleged that Dosanjh has disrespected the Sikh community by singing the track. A source close to Dosanjh says Singh is irked by the number because "Sikhs keep katar [daggers]", not guns with them.
"The petitioner has alleged that the lyrics go against the principles of Sikhism. He suggests Diljit Dosanjh should have respected the teachings of the community before singing the song. Diljit has never faced a situation like this one before," says the source, adding that the actor did not even face trouble for his involvement in the drugs drama, Udta Punjab (2016).

"His team of lawyers is handling the matter." The petition has been filed in Amritsar and Mumbai, and the hearing will take place next month.
