"A lot of scripts came my way after 'Raanjhanaa'. I thinkI read about 33 scripts but there was nothing solid to back upmy first Hindi film. I kept waiting for about eight monthswhen R Balki called. He is like 'if you are free for a coupleof hours do drop in'. After a two-hour narration I knew I was doing it," Dhanush told PTI in an interview.

The 31-year-old actor believes 'Shamitabh' is a great opportunity for him to learn from the best.

"It would be my toughest role in my 28 films career.

It was mentally very taxing. The character was not easy to play.Hopefully, I have done a convincing job and lived up to the director's expectations and people's expectations if they have any," he said.

Dhanush is sharing the screen space with Amitabh Bachchan and newcomer Akshara Haasan in the film, which is slated to release this Friday.

When asked about his biggest challenge while facing thecamera for 'Shamitabh', Dhanush said he just wanted to be able to do justice to Bachchan's voice.

"It was a great opportunity to learn from the best and I tried to absorb as much as possible. I was nervous only because handling the majestic voice of Amit ji is not easy. I was worried whether I will be able to carry his majestic voice in my small frame," Dhanush said.

It is a busy month for the actor, who has a very successful career in Tamil cinema, as he will start promoting his next Tamil film 'Anegan' before beginning the shoot on 'Maari'.
