There is no denying that the big bad underworld always had had an influence over the Gentleman’s Game. And the opening sequence of Milan Luthria’s next paints a very similar picture.

The sequence of the film portrays Dawood Ibrahim (Akshay Kumar) attending a cricket match between India and Pakistan at the Sharjah cricket stadium. Our source says, “Akshay’s entry in the film is quite unique. It opens with a cricket match between India and Pakistan at Sharjah in the ’80s. While the two captains are shown waiting for the toss to begin, everyone else is shown waiting for some special person’s entry.”

The entry is that of none other than the dreaded don Dawood, who arrives in a car and then gives a signal for the all-important toss to begin. The source adds, “It is known that underworld don and Mumbai blast-accused, Dawood left the city for Dubai. Being a cricket fanatic, Dawood was always present at the India-Pakistan matches at Sharjah. There have been many pictures of the don watching matches from the VIP box of the stadium.” This particular sequence in the gangster film is said to be inspired from such real-life incidents.u00a0
