The shoot of the Amitabh Bachchan-Dhanush starrer, Shamitabh, was stopped due to Mumbai's inclement weather. The recent downpour and heavy winds that lashed Mumbai washed away the huge sets that had been erected at the MMRDA grounds in Bandra-Kurla Complex.

The unit was supposed to shoot an awards night sequence at this set. R Balki’s film has several B-Town folk playing themselves and doing cameos in the awards night scenes. It also marks the debut of Akshara Haasan, Kamal Haasan’s younger daughter.

In the current schedule, actress Rekha and filmmaker Rohit Shetty were slated to shoot. Says a source, “The sudden change in the weather has only served to disrupt the schedule. Rekha and Rohit Shetty were unable to shoot due to the damage that the sets have suffered.” The source adds that the sequence will now have to be reworked and new sets will have to be created. “All that was created was a waste. The makers were keen on shooting at the MMRDA grounds since several award ceremonies are held at this location. The extent of the damage and what it has cost the makers is yet to be ascertained,” says the source. Balki was unavailable for comment.
