There's a perception that Bollywood music didn't allow remixes to flourish in the '90s.

However, remixes were always loved, because they had the 'wow' factor. Even a simple rhythm loop could turn into an amazing remix. People loved the music we churned out.

Also, in the '90s, there weren't too many people involved in creating remixes. I have been a huge fan of the '90s music. I grew up on it, so have many fond memories. Since the current generation didn't hear the songs in the past, they appreciate '90s melodies when they listen to them now.

The era's still rocking
I have been playing at clubs all over the world for years, and the music of the '90s is still lauded. Even today, it is only the songs of that era that are the party-starters.

Those numbers are the ones that get people on the dance floor. Music aficionados are never bored of tracks like Saat Samundar Paar, Jaanam Samjha Karo, Tamma Tamma Loge, Raat Baaki Baat Baaki, Humma Humma, Jawaani Janeman, etc. I am requested to play them on loop. While some of them have been remixed for Hindi movies, I am waiting for the others to also make it to films' soundtracks.

What a comeback!
It's great that the '90s chartbusters are being reused. Since most music composers are busy touring and dancing at weddings, they don't have the time to come up with new and creative music, which, in turn,

triggered the comeback of old songs. But, some music directors are doing a great job of fusing old melodies with modern music and adding a few fresh lines, and if required, a rap too. Most of them feature Badshah, who is a genius. He rocks every song. Many music makers hawk in clubs to see which '90s numbers are played the most and remix the same tracks with a twist.

DJing back then
When I started out as a DJ in 1998, I was a rare breed, one that did not exist before. People did not know the meaning of DJing and would not look at it as a serious profession. But, I was persistent. I am glad that times have changed. I've had several experiences, good and bad.
