Vivek Oberoi has enjoyed a rapport with Devendra Fadnavis even before he was appointed as the Maharashtra chief minister. And now as the actor plans to open a shelter home for the minor daughters of sex workers, the CM has assured him of all support — he would grace an event announcing the initiative on August 29, which will be celebrated as Raksha Bandhan.

Says Vivek, "The basic idea is that we, as brothers, will be providing these girls, our sisters, shelter and a safe place to live. So they will tie us rakhi on the day as well. When I approached Fadnavisji with this idea, he instantly gave his nod. He understands the importance of taking these kids out of the brothel and providing them shelter."
The CM's wife, Amruta, is also expected to sing on the day. "I always knew bhabhi as a good singer. When she learnt about my initiative, she asked me how she could help me. I requested her to sing for the kids on the day and she agreed," adds Vivek.
All the girls, who are being included in the shelter home plan, belong to Mumbai's red-light area, Kamathipura. Their mothers can meet them once a week. The actor is now hunting for an ideal place to open the home and also plans to sponsor the kids' education.
