This is Bipasha Basu’s first Durga Puja after marriage to Alone (2015) co-star Karan Singh Grover in May, and she will be off to hometown Kolkata tomorrow to be part of the festivities at Ekdalia, the neighbourhood where she grew up. Accompanying her, of course, will be hubby dearest in what will be their maiden trip to the city.
Says Bipasha, “We will reach Kolkata only on ashtami [Sunday] night. I am looking forward to be pampered at home with family, enjoy traditional meals, and meet a few relatives as well as friends in our locality. I want Karan to soak in the ambience and energy of Durga Puja in Kolkata, the biggest excitement throughout our childhood.”
The couple will be in Kolkata only for a day. They will return to Mumbai on dashami (Tuesday). On Bips’ wish-list is a carefree walk down her neighbourhood for the puja. “For Durga maa’s darshan, I want to walk down from Ekdalia [where her ancestral house is located] to Cornfield Road to see the protima [idol], but I don’t know if that will be possible due to massive crowd that day. I would have also loved to participate in my first-ever ‘sindoor khela’ now that I am married,” she says.
