Veteran music composer Bappi Lahiri and singer Kumar Sanu were today honoured with the Lifetime Achievement awards by the West Bengal government.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee gave the award to them at the Sangeet Samman award function here.
Lahiri thanked the government for the award while Sanu was not present in person to collect the honour.
Bollywood musician Shantanu Moitra was felicitated with the Sangeet Mahasamman award while vocalists Nachiketa and Ajoy Chakrobarty were given special sangeet samman.
During the award function, the CM said the Sangeet Mela will be held for the next 10 days at different venues where 5,000 artists will participate.
"We are giving a monthly honorarium of Rs 1000 to Rs 50,000 folk artists. We will now give them the work of government advertising so that they get work. We are proud of our artists," Banerjee said.
She also announced that a folk culture festival would be organised at Lal Dighi from December 23.
