Bollywood's dry spell at the box office continues with last Friday's two releases, 'Baar Baar Dekho' and 'Freaky Ali' failing to lure the audience to theatres. One's best guess would be that the Ganpati festivities played spoilsport, but trade experts ruled that out.
Says trade analyst Amod Mehra, "The festival had nothing to do with the poor performance of both films. The word-of-mouth for 'Baar Baar Dekho' is negative and the film may not survive the weekdays. 'Freaky Ali' also didn't do great business, but since it's a low-budget film, it has chances of scraping through."
Trade-smith Vishek Chauhan echoes Mehra. "Both films were complete disasters. 'Baar Baar Dekho' did poor business over the weekend, and crashed on Monday. 'Freaky Ali' lacked star power to pull audience to theatres," he adds.
