WHO: Jiah Khan
AT Stardust Awards
WHY WE LIKE Wearing the colour of the season, Khan’s tangerine gown does justice to her figure and skin tone.
WHAT JIAH’S STYLIST MANEKA HARISINGHANI says “Jiah had worn an orange sari to the Screen Awards, andu00a0I did not want her to wear another orange outfit(this one is by Ramona Narang) right after Screen. However,u00a0she was down with malaria for the next awards night and emotionally blackmailed me to let her wear this gown, which she was in love with. Also, the clutch is made from 24 carat gold (Malaga).”

WHO:u00a0Katrina Kaif
AT Screen Awards
WHY WE LIKE The gown flatters Kaif’s curves in all the right ways, and with the embroidery all over, it’s glamourous enough for an awards night.
WHAT KATRINA’S STYLIST TANYA GHAVRI SAYS “As soon as we saw this Naeem Khan gown, we fell in love with it and fixed
on it. However, with all the embroidery, it weighed 8 kgs! But Katrina was a sport. After the function actor Arjun Kapoor told me, ‘You sent her in armour!’”
WHO: Richa Chadda
AT Stardust Awards
WHY WE LIKE With an embellished upper half, Richa kept it minimum with the accessories and make-up and bared skin with aplomb.
WHAT RICHA SAYS “I was styled by Nishant Bangar and the gown is by Amit GT. I wanted to challenge my comfort level, hence the front cleavage, and unlike my characters on screen, I ardently follow fashion and wanted to break my screen image.”
WHO: Gauri Shinde
AT Filmfare Awards
WHY WE LIKE The only director to feature on our list, she dared to skip a gown and a sari and makes the best boho red carpet statement.
WHAT GAURI SAYS “It is a Payal Khandwala outfit. I picked it because apart from being a dear friend, I like the way she thinks and I connect with her idea of style which is a mix of comfort and boho-chic and suits my personality. I do not have a stylist; I pick and wear what I feel like, and what I feel good in. I love Sabyasachi too because I love his style.”
WHO: Anushka Sharma
AT Stardust Awards
WHY WE LIKE The ruffles add body to Sharma’s slim frame, and since the gown is a statement in itself, it’s good that she’s kept the accessories to a minimum.
WHAT ANUSHKA’S STYLIST ALLIA AL RUFAI SAYS “Anushka has a strong persona, and it reflects in her clothes. So, we wanted something soft, pretty and classic, at the same time. Hence, we picked this monochrome Armani gown.”
WHO: u00a0Purab Kohli
AT Filmfare Awards
WHY WE LIKE The only male actor on our list, he skipped wearing the typical black-and-white tuxedo.
WHAT PURAB SAYS Both my suits for Filmfare were by Gary Wallang (shirt by Burberry). I saw this one lying in my cupboard; I don’t do normal (here black and white)!” Kohli, incidentally, chooses his own outfits.

Chitrangada Singh is our red carpet favourite, and this lehenga sari by Anand Kabra was perfect for her Filmfare night.u00a0While Bipasha Basu hid her curves in this Gucci number she let her toned arms do the talking, a la Michelle Obama. With the ruffled upper half though, she could have looked better with her hair slicked back in an up-do.
