Babu, who has earlier made films like Meri Aawaz Suno, Mera Faisla and Ek Se Bhale Do, is keen on releasing the thespian’s film. “I met Saira Banu (Dilip Kumar’s wife) on Saturday and told her that I have managed to get the negative of the film and want to release the film.

She was very happy and is ready to cooperate with us. She gives us lot of support to make this possible,” says Babu.

Babu happened to meet a distributor in Singapore who had the negative of the 1990 film. “The man was kind enough to give it to me. In fact, he flew down to Chennai with me and me got a digital version of the film made for us.”

Turns out the South Indian filmmaker had been searching for the film’s negative as the original print got destroyed.

When asked why the film could not be released in 1990 itself, Babu reminisces, “The film was censored and ready to go but due to some legal issues, we failed to get a proper release. But since it was my baby even after the producer of the film passed away, I continued to search for the print luckily and I met a gentleman named Bajaj who let me have the negative.’’
