Amrita Arora Ladhak threw a surprise birthday party for her husband Shakeel on Sunday night. 
The newly-wed actress planned the party along with her sister-in-law Shabana and held it at the latter's Pali Hill residence. Shakeel turns 34 this year.
Amu and her husband left for their European honeymoon last night.
A source who attended the bash reveals, "Amu had made plans for this party weeks in advance.
Since it was Shakeel's first birthday party after their wedding, it is very special for her.
She made a list of his school and college friends and sent them personal invites. Shabanau00a0 helped her with the names and contacts of his friends."
Pleasantly surprised
Apart from family members, there were 40 of Shakeel's friends who landed at Shabana's terrace to surprise Shakeel.
"The party went on till the early morning hours. Shakeel was pleasantly surprised to meet several of his school friends after a gap of many years.
Some of them who couldn't attend the wedding, turned up to wish him on the birthday."
On a road trip
After celebrating the birthday, Shakeel and Amu left for their honeymoon to Europe.
Earlier, the couple had planned Mexico as their destination but cancelled it as reported ('No Mexico for Amu-Shakeel', HiTLIST, March 10).
A source reveals, "They will embark on a road trip across Europe travelling through Spain, Italy, the south of France and other places. Amu is most excited to visit Paris as its her most romantic destination."
