There are reports that the Abhishek Chaubey-directed movie has failed to get censor board's approval due to portrayal of excessive swearing and drug consumption.

Earlier, producer Anurag Kashyap had said the things are in process, and hence the film is far from being "banned". Alia, who stars in the film, did not comment on the reports that censor board has asked for as many as 40 cuts, but said she is hopeful that everyone will be "happy" by the end of it.

"All I want to say is Anurag Kashyap put out a tweet of all the information that is true and that is related to the topic right now. There was nothing mentioned about the cuts (in the tweet), it was just that the film has moved on to the revising committee and the due process is on," Alia told reporters here when asked about the controversy.

"Apart from that, it will be wrong for me to say anything because this is actually what has happened. Let's wait and watch, hopefully everyone will be happy," she said.

The "Kapoor & Sons" star was speaking at the launch of a pop-up store for the underprivileged, 'The Street Store', by Anmol Jewellers, Smile Foundation and TNE.

When asked if she is sad that the film is mired into controversies, Alia said, "Today is all about smiling so I will smile. And I am sure you will have a lot of questions answered soon."

The film stars Shahid Kapoor as a high-on-drugs rockstar Tommy Singh, and Alia as a Bihari migrant. Besides, Kareena Kapoor Khan plays a doctor who is determined to fight the illegal transportation of drugs, while Diljit Dosanjh portrays a police officer.

The film is scheduled to release on June 17.
