Remake of Saeed Mirza's 1980 classic to kick-off Jagran Film Festival

Saeed Mirza's 1980 cult film, Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyoon Aata Hai has been remade by Soumitra Ranade starring Nandita Das, Manav Kaul, Saurabh Shukla and Kishor Kadam.
The film, which won accolades when it premiered at the recently concluded Singapore South Asian International Film Festival, will be the opening movie at the eighth Jagran Film Festival, to be held at Andheri's Cinepolis from September 18 to 24.

Ranade watched the film, which made a socio-political statement on Mumbai's middle-class, when he was a student, and had been keen to revisit the drama ever since.

"I have put in whatever money I could, besides resorting to crowdfunding. I plan to release it before the year-end," he said. The cast of the original included Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi and Smita Patil. Writer-director Mirza is slated to attend the screening at the festival.
