Karnal district administration held a special screening of Nitesh Tiwari's Aamir Khan-starrer 'Dangal' for 924 rural families with four or more daughters. The film chronicles the life of ex-wrestler and coach Mahavir Singh Phogat, who trained his daughters, Geeta and Babita, to Olympic success.
Additional deputy commissioner of Karnal, Priyanka Soni said that the film would serve as an inspiration for these families and motivate the girls to work hard and shine in their respective fields.
Further, she hoped that the character of Mahavir, who went against the prevalent mindset of the society and ensured that his daughters become professional wrestlers, would serve as an example for all parents.
The film screening would also give a boost to the ambitious 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' programme. This comes a day after news of the film being declared tax free in Delhi by deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
