It was celebration time in Delhi for the cr me de la cr me of the music and film fraternity as their outstanding performers were felicitated at the Global Indian Music Awards (GIMA). Hosted by Ranveer Singh and Neha Dhupia, the evening had some amazing performances by Shahrukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Sunidhi Chauhan, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Sonu Nigam and Pyarelal, amongst others. Of the total 31 awards in the film and non-film category, most of the top honours went to Dabangg, whichu00a0 got laurels for Best Music Director (Sajid-Wajid and Lalit Pandit), Best Film Album, Best Music Debut for Mamta Sharma (Munni Badnaam Hui) and Best Engineer Film (Eric Pillai). The film also received Best Engineeru00a0- Theatre Mix (Leslie Fernandes), Best Background Score (Sandeep Shirodkar) and the Red FM Most Popular Song on Radio (Tere Mast Mast)
A special award honouring Outstanding Contribution to Indian film music went to legendary Indian composer, Pyarelal while carnatic vocalist M Balamuralikrishna won the Outstanding Contribution to Indian Musicu00a0- Classical.u00a0 The Global Musician Honour was bestowed upon AR Rahman, a member of the internationally renowned band, Super Heavy along with Mick Jagger. The award for Best Engineeru00a0- Theatre Mix was given to Leslie Fernandes by Sushil Sharma, vice-president (luxury) Gitanjali Lifestyle.
