Nargis Fakhri made her Bollywood debut with Imtiaz Ali's Rockstar. Co-starring Ranbir Kapoor, the film gained a cult status and received critical as well as commercial appreciation. Right from the music to the performances, every aspect was lauded. Undoubtedly, Nargis made a grand debut. Today, on the occasion of 12 years of Rockstar, the actress looked back at the film and shared her experience.

In a statement, Nargis said, "Reflecting on 12 years of Rockstar, it's incredible to see the enduring impact of this film. Despite not knowing Hindi very well at the time, the challenge became a journey of growth. Playing Heer was a profound experience, and I owe immense gratitude to Imtiaz Ali for entrusting me with such a special character. The fact that the story still connects with audiences speaks volumes, and I cherish being a part of this timeless journey."

Sharing pictures on Instagram, Nargis wrote, "12 years of Rockstar. Pretty crazy how time flies, but this film & everyone who worked on it will forever be in my heart.
Heer will always be a part of me and so is the memories of Jordan. Once in a life Time! Thank you @imtiazaliofficial & #ranbirkapoor (sic)."

In a previous interview with Mashable Middle East, Nargis recalled her first meeting with Imtiaz Ali for Rockstar in Prague. She revealed a person from the team informed her that the director would come to meet her. Nargis shared, "She told me, ‘The director will be in Prague, and he’d still like to meet you.’ I was like, ‘Oh, what the hell, let me go meet this person. If he’s weird I’ll kick him in the balls and I’ll run’. I had my New York out. I’m not afraid, I’m ready to fight people. You learn that when you’re six, in the hood."

She added, "I go, and this strange man with big curly hair, very nice, good aura. So obviously, my instinct kicks in to judge the character. Good person, very nice, felt safe, told me the most beautiful story I’ve ever heard in my life. I literally saw the whole movie in my head when he was telling me the story. And he said, ‘If you come to India, we can help teach you the language’. I said ‘I don’t know’, because obviously that’s a huge thing to do, I don’t know anybody, I don’t know what I’ll do there. But after a couple of weeks, they asked again, and I said okay fine, I’ll just go and try. You only live once in life, you have to take a chance."

After Rockstar, Nargis acted in films like Madras Cafe, Main Tera Hero, Azhar, Housefull 3, Banjo, Amavas, Torbaaz and Shiv Shastri Balboa. She made a special appearance in the Tamil film, Saagasam.
