Fawad Khan, 33, actor
Debut: 'Khoobsurat'
Talent quotient: Before his Bollywood outing, this Pakistani star had won a million Indian hearts viz. the TV show 'Zindagi Gulzar Hai'. He made his Bollywood debut with 'Khoobsurat' in which he was paired with Sonam Kapoor. Though married, Fawad has attained a heart-throb status here.
Tiger Shroff, 24, actor
Debut: 'Heropanti'
Talent quotient: This star son stepped into the film industry last year and boy, did he bowl us over with his dancing skills! A self-confessed fan of Michael Jackson, Tiger seems like someone who's got the moves, quite literally, and bagged awards as best debutant too. Many in the industry believe he can also be a good action hero.
Amal Malik, 24, musician
Debut: 'Jai Ho'
Talent quotient: For starters, he is the son of music director Daboo Malik and nephew of Anu Malik. His Bollywood career kicked off last year with the Salman Khan-starrer for which he composed two songs, including the title track. His latest project is 'Roy' starring Arjun Rampal, Jacqueline Fernandez and Ranbir Kapoor.
Siddharth Mahadevan, 21, musician
Debut: 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag'
Talent quotient: He made his singing debut with 'Zinda' from 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' and won several awards. Siddharth, son of musician Shankar Mahadevan, was the voice behind Dhoom 3's 'Malang Malang' and has also sung for regional films.
Vikas Bahl, 43, filmmaker
Debut: 'Queen'
Talent quotient: He quit a career in advertising when he realised Bollywood was his true calling. Aren't we
glad he moved to films? His Kangna Ranaut-starrer 'Queen' was one of the most appreciated films of 2014. Vikas had also co-directed 'Chillar Party' in 2011 which won the National Award for the best children's film.
Kanika Kapoor, 33, singer
Debut: 'Ragini MMS 2'
Talent quotient: 'Baby Doll', sung by this artiste, was one of the biggest hits of 2014 that had Sunny Leone cavorting inside a cage in an itsy-bitsy golden dress. Kanika's first music video 'Jugni Ji' had topped the music charts in 2012. Apart from this, Kanika has also crooned a few other songs including Lovely from 'Happy New Year' and 'Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan' from 'Roy'.
Amit Masurkar, 33, director/writer
Debut: 'Sulemani Keeda'
Talent quotient: He has penned screenplays for TV shows and films like 'Murder 3' (2013) and 'Chaar Din Ki Chandni' (2012), but his claim to fame was his directorial debut 'Sulemani Keeda'. Though a small budget film, it was highly appreciated by critics and also exceeded the expectations of exhibitors in terms of collection.
Nitin Kakkar, 39, director
Debut: 'Filmistaan'
Talent quotient: He started his career with the small screen but his move to the big screen has been worthwhile. His debut film, made on a shoestring budget, had toured many film festivals and also won the National Award for best feature film in Hindi, but was unable to attract distributors. However, when UTV decided to back it, the audience was treated to a heartwarming tale of Indians and Pakistanis and films — the thread that binds them.
Inam-ul-haq, 34, actor
Debut: 'Firaaq'
Talent quotient: The actor, who was seen in 'Agneepath' (2012) and 'Firaaq' (2008), has been part of the industry for quite some time but critical acclaim came his way post 'Filmistaan'. Apart from acting, Inam has written screenplays for television shows.
Girish Kulkarni, 43, actor
Debut: 'Ugly'
Talent quotient: In his first film, he was convincing as a cop, who could be both commanding and sycophantic, and in a film full of characters arguably too dark to be real. He is well known in the Marathi film circles and has also bagged an award for a Marathi film called 'Deool'.
