The team of upcoming action film "Waarrior Savitri" On Tuesday provided self-defence tips and training to young blind girls on the occasion of International Women's Day.

Lead actress, Niharica Raizada, who is seen in some intense and stylish action sequences in the film, led the way in the session teaching blind girls.

"Karate is a form which has been used prominently in the film. Being a woman, you should know to practice self-defence.. whatever be the situation, you should be able to defend yourself. And that
is what I tried to explain them when someone attacks them, I have tried to show them 2-3 blocks in karate, which might look very small, but have a very strong impact," she said.

"It's a matter of pride if I can share my knowledge of karate with someone. Self-defence and martial arts are practices which every woman should know. In these difficult times, when we hear of
rape cases, and numerous attacks on girls, we should learn and teach such arts," she added.

The film is based on the Savitri-Satyavan story from the 'Mahabharata' and Niharica plays the role of Savitri, who fights all enemies in her path to save her husband, played by "Udaan" actor Rajat
Barmecha. Veteran actor Om Puri plays Yamaraj, while Gulshan Grover is also a part of the cast in an interesting role. Popular international actors like Lucy Pinder, Tim Man and Ron
Smoorenberg also play important roles.

On superstar Akshay Kumar's stress on making martial arts compulsory in schools, Niharica said: "It would be a wonderful mission if something like that happens."

Rajat said, "When I was in Delhi as a kid, I have learned karate. It should be there in schools but not forcing it on them. People should be given education about it and encouraged to do it and in
that case more people will be interested, and will be a plus."

"Waarrior Savitri", directed by Param Gill and produced by Harinder Kanda and Upendra Maheshhwari, under the banner Dr. Bob's Production, is slated to release in the summer.
