She has always been able to attract attention, be it for her looks, her figure or her stamina. Model Diandra Soares tells CS that she's happy in her skin and doesn't mind looking 31. She shares her fitness mantra:
Thin isn't in
I started my career very young and I had the pressure to lose the baby fat. Then in between, due to the new size zero fad, I became so thin that while it worked for modelling, it was all wrong for my body type and structure. And, though my industry thinks I'm big and they want flat chested, reed thin girls, I cannot be that, nor do I want to be that. I'm a 31-year-old 'woman' and I want to look and feel like one too! I have a naturally athletic frame, thanks to my dad. Also, I'm now working towards fitness rather than being thin. Cardio, weight training, power plate and pilates are part of my fitness regime. I also swim regularly and I do Iyengar yoga.
Weight and watch
My weight has always varied like a yo-yo. And though I enjoy working out, I love my food too. I have a major sweet tooth. So I eat what I want to and workout like a lunatic. But if I have a major assignment coming, then I control my eating and avoid certain foods. Also, as you get older, your metabolism changes, so you have to take precautions. Every couple of months I follow a detox regimeu00a0-- no smoking, no alcohol, no late nights, and no oily food. Doing it for 15 days does wonders for the skin and body.
Energising self
And yes, my workouts can get very, very hectic and exhausting, resulting in muscle pains. As a result, I take regular massages and at times steam baths too. But to relax, I watch films, read and cook. When time permits, I go chill at the pool and get tanned with my girlfriends. And when things get hectic with work, I take a break and scoot to Goa.
