Shilpa Shetty on the death of Jade Goody

Shilpa Shetty's voice was choked with tears on hearing of the demise of Jade Goody. Her 27-year-old Big Brother housemate finally lost her battle with cervical cancer on Sunday morning.

The actress will not be able to attend Jade's funeral 10 days later as she will be back in Mumbai by then.

"It's an extremely emotional moment for me and it is impossible to explain the sadness I felt when I heard the news.

My phone has been flooded with messages and calls from people informing me about it. What can I say? I am happy that Jade passed away in peace. She was in a lot of pain."

Adds the actress, When I arrived in London to meet her, she had slipped into a coma. I was denied permission to see her.

She was going through a lot of pain. I totally understand what the family must be going through and respect their privacy."

Shilpa tells us that after Big Brother, Jade and she kept in touch. "I spoke to Jade, just prior to her wedding on February 22 this year.

Unfortunately, I couldn't make it.u00a0 What shocks me is that none of the inmates of the Big Brother house, people living in London, came to see her when Jade was in hospital.

I asked Max who had come and he said nobody. That saddens me... if she was in India, I would have definitely met her more often."

'Jade was the architect of my fame'

In her blog https://www.shilpashettylive.com/blog on March 17 Shilpa wrote, "In London for some work and my first priority is wanting to meet Jade... Always felt she and I were connected in a strange way... I believe she was a catalyst and the architect of my fame in Britainu2026 Anyway life brought us together again through Bigg Boss."

Shilpa writes further, "This experience has made me realise life's too short to hold any grudges... am happy in a way I haven't got to see her, it would've depressed me no end.

I always want to remember her smiling! It's a helpless feeling.... You are in my prayers Jade. You are destiny's child!"
