Actor Akshay Kumar recently revealed that his son Aarav left home at the age of 15 and has no interest in being part of films
Akshay Kumar and Aarav
Actor Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna rarely speak about their kids in public. The two who got married in the early 2000s are parents to two kids- Aarav and Nitara. The star parents have always preferred to keep their kids away from the limelight. However, Akshay made an exception recently when he appeared on Shikhar Dhawan's new chat show 'Dhawan Karenge'. The actor was the first guest on the show and he spoke about his son's interests and how he has been living alone since the age of 15.

On the show, Akshay Kumar revealed that his son left home at the age of 15 even though the actor did not want it to happen. He said, “My son Aarav is studying at the university in London. He left home at the age of 15. He was always fond of studying and wanted to stay alone. It was his decision to move even though I didn’t want him to go. However, I could not stop him because I left my home at the age of 14.”
Kumar further praised his son's down-to-earth nature and his self-sufficient ways as he does his own household chores and does not splurge on expensive clothes. "He does his own laundry, he is a good cook, does the utensils and doesn’t even want to buy expensive clothes. In fact, he goes to a second-hand store, Thrifty, to buy clothes because he doesn’t believe in wastage," the proud father said.
One might think that the movies is the natural path for Aarav considering his father and maternal grandparents found success in the field. However, he is not interested in movies. "We never forced him to do anything; he is interested in fashion, he doesn’t want to be a part of cinema. He came to me and said that I don’t want to do films. I said this is your life, do what you want to do,” he said.
“I am happy the way Twinkle and I have brought up Aarav; he is a very simple boy. My daughter, on the other hand, likes clothes," he added talking about the way he and his wife raised Aarav.
Last year, Aarav had turned 21 and Akshay had penned a note for him. "Hi mere angrez puttar…the candles on your cake count to 21 today, but for me you’d always be the li’l one who’d jump into my lap and make a tough day worth carrying on. Enjoy your day my son, you can now legally do everything I suspect you’ve been doing already ;) Love you, Aarav. Forever your proud dad," he wrote.
