On November 20th, Adrenaline premiered in the “Freak Out Shorts” segment at ACMI Cinema 2 during MQFF 2024. Introduced by Cerise Howard, the festival’s program director, the screening drew an enthusiastic audience. The director of the film, Vedd V Rawtaani, was also invited to the stage to share his insights about the film’s journey and its reception. The audience was captivated not only by the film’s gripping plot but also by its exploration of deeper themes of trust, reality, and identity.
Vedd’s Adrenaline centers on two young men trapped in a high-stakes game orchestrated by a sinister figure. The film explores how they navigate a virtual reality world that blurs the lines between fiction and truth. The suspenseful narrative, filled with puzzles, adrenaline-fueled moments, and emotional revelations, has earned critical acclaim. Vedd’s direction and Harshwardhan Poddar’s creative direction bring the story to life, blending action and emotional depth seamlessly.
The short film has not only resonated with Indian audiences, but it is also making waves overseas, securing its place at esteemed film festivals. The screening at the MQFF 2024 underlines its universal appeal and impactful storytelling.
Speaking about the MQFF screening, Vedd said, “Having Adrenaline selected and appreciated at such a prestigious festival is a dream come true. The audience’s response reaffirmed my belief in storytelling that challenges perspectives and resonates across cultures.”
Adrenaline has been nominated at the Egyptian American Film Festival 2024 and the Los Angeles Movie and Music Video Awards. It has also bagged awards, including Best Film at the 13th Delhi Shorts International Film Festival 2024 and recognition at the Bangkok Movie Awards 2024, where it won Best LGBTQ Film. Each accolade underscores the film’s ability to connect with diverse audiences and proves that bold storytelling can truly cross borders. For Vedd, this is just the beginning of a promising journey in global cinema.
