South African DJ/Producer UMngomezulu combines different genres to form one unique sound in House Music

The South African producer Thulasizwe Mngomezulu known as UMngomezulu is one of the most highly respected exponents in the South African music scene. He is from a small town called Empangeni but based in Johannesburg (South Africa). UMngomezulu started his music journey while studying music production at the Soul Candi institute of music and on weekends he volunteered working at a record store called vinyl joint, which gave him a platform to showcase his craft. Working in a record shop has exposed his music taste into a lot of different musical genres, however House Music has always been his first choice. He started his career calling himself "Deepland" while releasing music under a record stores record label called "Music, Myself and I". His music has always been House Music which is one of the most influential genres in the world and from his childhood.

Growing up in South Africa has been a blessing in his life which has taught him many life lessons. The South African music scene is divided but also great because South Africans create a variety of genres especially in dance music, they have popular trending genres like Gqom and Amapiano which are the most highly notable sounds in the South African dance music scene. UMngomezulu decided to explore with the Amapiano sound by remixing an Amapiano song and giving it a very Deep Melodic House touch early this year which shows that anything is possible when you explore musically. His touch in music production is always filled with emotions which helps his craft communicate with people in a deeper level.

As we continue the year 2022 things in South Africa has been tough since the country is still under lockdown, but that does not stop the producer from releasing music. UMngomezulu is currently working on his first debut album titled "Remedies From Zululand", which is inspired by were he comes from in Kwa Zulu Natal. The meaning behind his album title is inspired by people who believe that the music he produces heals.
