One of India's up-and-coming rapper talents is Shubham Verma, also known as Sky Verma. At the age of 23, Sky established himself in the music business. He is a rapper who also owns a gym in Ghaziabad.
Shubham Verma didn't rely on anyone in the music industry for support to fulfil his dreams. He put in a lot of practice, worked on several tracks, and then uploaded them to his Spotify and YouTube feeds. Gang Gang, Barbarik, Pyaar ka Scene, Nasha, and several other tracks by rap artist Sky Verma have been released. Over a million individuals have listened to his music. The rapper is ecstatic to see how well his work is received.
The rapper initially had to convince his family to make them understand his dreams. Eventually, they showed full support. He shared, "I persuaded my family. They advised me earlier to avoid this because they believed I was taking the wrong road. I was informed that this is not typical of Indian culture. But ultimately, circumstances changed. They now stand beside me. I have a lot of support from my older brother Akki Verma. My family has a lot of faith and trust in me and only wants the best for me."
In 2019, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy showed the life of rap artists in the country. It gave a voice and platform to many budding and popular rappers. But did it increase people's interest in listening to rap music and help grow rappers' popularity? Sky Verma was asked the question, and he agreed it did help rappers somehow.
Shubham Verma, aka Sky Verma, answered, "Yeah. I suppose Gully Boy was a very big platform. Since the movie, rappers are going up and I can safely say that 30% efforts and effect was because of the movie. However, we still have a long way to go. We need more movies where rap music is used and the life of rappers is highlighted. We put in equal efforts in making and releasing music like any other artist."
