Mauris Noronha, the Indian Robin Hood who utilizes personal savings to help the masses

Mauris Noronha

Mauris Noronha, hailed among the underprivileged as their Robin Hood all around the area of Borivli in North Mumbai, says "It says in the Bible to serve people with WHAT YOU HAVE, and NOT with what you take," that is what makes this Business man turned philanthropist a real hero who touches the lives of thousands of the deprived classes in North Mumbai,

My main priority is to eradicate hunger among the downtrodden. Hence my team has provided dry Ration Kits to over one lakh households. We have also provided free PPE Kits, Face masks and sanitizers including the Ration to Covid warriors like the Police, Municipal workers, Ambulance drivers, BEST drivers during the entire Pandemic lockdown period," says this Samaritan.

Mauris Noronha who is in his mid 40s has grown up in Dhobi Talao near Marine Lines area in South Mumbai and he recalls those sweet memories during his college days when they often used to take dips in the Banganga Tank. Later his family shifted to North Mumbai. He has his Finance business in the USA and is a professional Poker Player who plays Poker in Las Vegas as he has also visit the US several times a year to manage his business there.

During the ongoing Pandemic Lockdown, Mauris has taken care of every single sect of life like the Transgenders, Cobblers, Rickshaw drivers in North Mumbai.

Hundreds of articles have been written on his work, every single Television news channel and Radio Channels have covered his work.

"I have therefore decided to enter active Politics by contesting the upcoming Municipal Elections as an independent," he declared adding that he has also been receiving offers from Political Parties to join them as their candidate, and this is what he had to say while speaking to Paresh B Mehta, "My aim is to do real good work for the people, even if I join any party. The purpose would be like goal is to eradicate hunger among the poor, I aim to eradicate corruption in our system."

People in Borivli and Dahisar address you as Mauris Bhai. How does it feel?

The 'Bhai' used in this context is out of love. The people actually consider me as their brother and not the typical maar-dhaad wala bhai. There are instances where I am often called by the underprivileged is to pay off their hospital bills, and I often pay for the charges of last rites (antim kriya) before cremation of those who cannot afford and at times for the burials.

What were other efforts undertaken by you during Covid Pandemic?

During the Covid Pandemic I had over 20 ambulances running around for ferrying those affected people to the hospital. This is a free service provided by me to those staying in the chawls. People called me anytime of the night or day from Ganpat Patil Nagar slums in Dahisar West and from Shivaji Nagar in Borivli West IC Colony and here I was ever ready to help them instantly.

While the almighty is providing you resources which you completely use them for serving the people and after having earned blessings and love of the underprivileged, now what is your ultimate desire?

I hope to join the United Nations if given the opportunity, to serve people in the interiors of Maharashtra. Particularly I would be more interested in working towards issues of the girl child.
