Entrepreneurship is not that different from a game – everybody plays to win.

And it’s how you play that has the greatest impact on your chances of picking up the win, as Monir Islam discovered early in his career. A young man from a humble home, Monir’s early dreams were simple. A nice house. A regular income. A decent car. But once he’d achieved those things, he found that he had a hunger for more. He wanted to help people in any way he could, and he struck on the way to do just that when he co-founded BE.
With BE, Monir Islam offers entrepreneurs digital tools (live streaming, access to exclusive travel, and educational resources) they can access from their smartphones. Created at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, BE has become the go-to platform for thousands of entrepreneurs, growing by 700% in the process. And now, Monir Islam is ready to share some of the strategies for entrepreneurial success that BE teaches to its users.
Strategy 1 – Reimagine the Idea of Work
What does work mean to you?
In the traditional sense, it’s coming up with ideas, creating products, and trying to sell those products to the masses. And the old ways of doing that simply aren’t as effective as they were. Cold calling is often met with dead phone lines, with canvassers seeing more than a few doors closed in their faces.
Monir Islam poses an interesting question about the way we work – what if employment as we know it disappeared tomorrow?
People got a taste of what that would be like during the pandemic. Monir believes that reimagining the way you work is critical, especially in an age where you have access to remote tools. That’s the idea behind BE. It provides everything an entrepreneur needs to build a business – both in terms of tools and guidance – from their smartphone.
By changing your mindset about what work is, you can adapt to what work is becoming.
Strategy 2 – Have a Mission
Purpose over profit informs everything that Monir Islam does.
That isn’t to say that profit isn’t important (every business needs it), but it means whatever you produce must have an underlying mission that drives it forward.
Take BE’s mission as an example – create a workplace for 1 million people that can be accessed anytime and anywhere from a smartphone.
It’s simple, sets out the stall for what BE wants to achieve, and gives any potential user a clear idea of why they should join BE. Your mission must be something similar. Not only should it inspire people to join whatever you’ve created, but it must serve as a constant reminder of why you created that thing in the first place.
Strategy 3 – Stay Calm to Overcome Adversity
Monir Islam faced plenty of adversity in his entrepreneurial journey. His investment into OneCoin was his biggest trial – the crypto coin failed, leading to Monir losing what he invested in the company.
After seeing the red flags of OneCoin’s failure in the distance, Monir Islam had to stay calm as a storm approached. He told his people, via Facebook, of what was happening, and he weathered a storm that involved prominent members of the press dragging his name through the mud based on misinformation.
Monir remained calm.
He knew that doing so would help him to overcome the adversity he faced, so he simply waited for his opportunity to do what he’d always wanted to do – help others.
The lesson here is that no entrepreneur experiences smooth sailing throughout their journey. You’ll face adversity. You’ll experience failure. And the worst thing you can do in these situations is to panic and make rash decisions. Be confident in yourself and stay true to your mission, even when surrounded by a storm of somebody else’s making. By keeping a level head and sticking to the path you wish to follow, you’ll make your way through the storm and continue your journey to entrepreneurial success.
Become the Master of Your Mind to Master the Game
Nobody ever said that being an entrepreneur was easy.
Entrepreneurs are trailblazers. They create their own paths and come up with innovative ideas, both of which can lead to opposition and adversity. That’s why Monir Islam’s strategies focus as much on mastering your mind as they do on finding the right tools. It’s only with the right mindset – calmness and dedication to your mission – that you’ll be able to adapt to new ways of working and transform your ideas into a viable business.
