With obesity becoming increasingly prevalent among Indians, the need to have a healthy lifestyle and sustainable weight management couldn’t be overemphasized.

“Fitelo is the easiest way to get fit,” Sahil Bansal, Co-founder & CEO tells Mid Day.

According to the latest data released by National Family Health Survey (NFHS), every 1 out of 4 Indians is overweight and this contrasts starkly with the earlier number of 1 out of 5 Indians suffering from obesity. Clearly, there is a more compelling need for expert guidance on weight management today than ever before.

To address this problem of obesity and help people live healthy by losing weight in a sustainable manner, Fitelo was founded by Mehakdeep Singh and Sahil Bansal in April 2019. The Chandigarh-based startup uses an AI-enabled platform to offer its customers easy-to-follow, personalized and natural diet plans for weight loss.

“By carefully assessing people’s habits, fitness goals, and medical conditions, we create personalized health programs that encourage people to eat right, enjoy little treats, and stay active in their daily routines,” says Sahil, co-founder & CEO of Fitelo. “Our customized services take into consideration multiple factors such as age, nutrition, lifestyles, family history, stress, and activity levels and then offer holistic weight management and disease management solutions.”

What makes Fitelo Unique?

“Fitelo is the easiest way to get fit,” Sahil tells Mid-day. “Powered by the new-age AI technology, our platform work on modifying the lifestyle of an individual in a gradual and stepwise manner. We work on creating healthy habits among clients so that the results can be sustained and they stay fit in the easiest possible way.”

He further adds, “The completely natural methodology adopted by us to help our clients sustain a healthy lifestyle can be easily counted as our biggest strength which sets us apart from the rest. We don’t ask out clients to join a gym, follow fad diets, or recommend any supplements/medicines. Rather, with our technology-enabled platform, we help our clients gain a better understanding of their nutrition requirements and improve their lifestyles for sustained weight loss in the long run.”

Vision and Goals

Fitelo aims to breach the 100 CR ARR mark in the next 12 months and in the next 3 years, Sahil wants Fitelo to emerge as a one-stop solution for all weight management and fitness-related needs. He further aspires to make Fitelo the #1 App for weight loss in India in the next 2 years.

To realize these ambitious goals, the entire Fitelo team is working day and night on improving their capabilities on both human resources and technology fronts. Sahil reveals that as of August 2022, Fitelo has more than 300 employees on its payroll out of which 200+ are coaches including dietitians, doctors, psychologists, yoga experts, and fitness trainers.

“We also have skin and hair care experts in-house to offer holistic services to our clients and our team continues to onboard new coaches every month to further expand its reach across nations and continents,” adds Sahil.

Brains Behind Fitelo

Mehakdeep (Mac) Singh and Sahil Bansal founded Fitelo in April 2019. Both have struggled with their weight loss journeys and after a lot of trials and tribulations, they found that habit building and lifestyle modification is the only sustainable way to losing weight.

Mac completed his MBA in 2011 and joined the auto company though he met with an accident and remained in bed for months. He gained a lot of weight during the recuperation and finally quit his job and took MSc in fitness and nutrition.  He used natural foods and lost 60 kg and built CRM platforms for fitness coaches until 2019.

Sahil, on the other hand, pursued an MBA in 2010 and worked for Infosys, Reuters, HCL, and Genpact. He started his venture in the ed-tech space with his primary work focused on habit formation models using technology and realized fitness is also about habit building.

Mac and Sahil met at a networking event in 2019 and both resonated on the fact that long-term fitness can be achieved only by habit building and lifestyle modifications. Sahil says, “We finally decided to take the concept of holistic fitness and sustainable approach to weight loss to people and as a result, Fitelo was founded in 2019,” Sahil adds, “ We are proud that our brand is helping people in losing weight and enjoying the benefits of an overall healthier lifestyle.”

In addition to both Co-founders Mac and Sahil, the core team members of Fitelo include Taru Agrawal (CRO), Gaurav Saini (CTO), Jitender Panihar (CHRO), and Vikram Singh (Quality Head) among others.
