Out of the many such talented young writers who have come up with discerning and distinct work that has struck the right chord with the readers is 6-year-old Akshita Malik, a class 1 student of Delhi Public School, Patiala. We spoke to this child prodigy about her journey and how she took up this craft that got her into the limelight early in life. Here are the excerpts:
Playing games or writing poems, what's your favorite pastime?
Writing has been my passion ever since I remember. My parents say that when children my age would be playing with toys, I would sit in a corner with a book and scribble on it as if trying to write something meaningful. These writing instincts were sowed at an early age which resulted in the publishing of my first book "My Little World Through My Poems" by BlueRose Publishers. When did the thought of stepping in as a writer cross your little mind?
I have always been interested in reading good books. The writer in me was always on the lookout for something meaningful which would give a push to my passion. My YouTube channel Tikku’sPlayWorld (https://youtube.com/c/Tikku’sPlayWorld) garnered a tremendous following owing to its content and this boosted my confidence to take a step further and write my book of poems which expresses my world through words. The book has also received an overwhelming response, which has delighted me to no end.
What do you like apart from writing and creating videos for your channel, and what are your future plans?
I like to travel, draw, play chess and make Canapés. I want to grow up as a fine writer and get recognized on a global platform.
