Want a place that is home to lofty mountains, hills, wide valleys, jaw-dropping waterfalls, and meandering streams? All of them await at Coorg. Simply stay at a luxury resort in Coorg and get ready for sightseeing and other exciting experiences. Here's a look.

Urban Vs Natural Experiences: Why You Need Both

Nature heals us. Natural experiences like simply watching the sunset from hills, marvelling at a waterfall, trekking, boating etc can release your stress and rejuvenate your senses. Urban experiences like signature dining, gaming, receiving spa treatments also relax you and enhance your comfort. When these two kinds of experiences combine on a trip, you can have the perfect holiday.

Coorg: The Hub of Natural Beauty in India

You can explore wonderful spots in Coorg that ooze natural beauty. Here are the top 5 places to visit in Coorg.

Iruppu Falls: This is a spectacular waterfall gushing down the rugged slope of Brahmagiri Mountain. The place also has a religious significance. That's because the Rameshwara temple is located near the falls on the banks of river Kaveri.

Kabbe Hills: It's exciting to take a jeep ride to the peak of these hills past the streams, forests, wetlands, and vegetation covers. You can get the best view of the sunset from these hills. The Chelevara Falls will stun you before you reach the peak.

Barapole River: This place is popular for white river rafting. As the boat moves while splashing water vigorously on the passengers, you feel your adrenaline rush. While paddling through the Brahmagiri Hills, the surrounding dense green foliage can mesmerise you.

Abbey Falls: This is one of the best places to visit in Coorg. About 70 feet above sea level, this waterfall cascades into several ridges down the cliff. A few smaller streams join its main course. They together flow into the Kaveri river running through Coorg. Nestled between the private coffee plantations and spice gardens, the waterfall looks beautiful even at a distance.

Honnamena Kere Lake: Located in the lap of the Western Ghats and near the village of Sulimalthe, this lake is also surrounded by a thick forest area. Mori Betta and Gavi Betta, the twin towering mountain ranges encompassing the lake make the spot more majestic.

How to Get There

By road: Karnataka State Transport deluxe buses regularly run from nearby cities like Mangalore, Mysore, and Bangalore to Coorg. So, you can take a bus if you live nearby.

By air: Coorg doesn't have an airport of its own. The nearest airport, 160 kilometres away is the Mangalore Airport. You can take a flight from any major city like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, or Hyderabad to reach this airport. Then take a bus to your resort in Coorg.

By train: Arrive at the closest station, Mysore Junction, 95 kilometres away from Coorg. Then board a bus.

Best Time to Visit

It's best to visit Coorg in the summer (March-June). The most preferable months are March and April. During this time, the days are comfortably warm. The valleys are enveloped in mist. The weather is ideal for walking, cycling, and trekking.
