Yesterday evening, stand-up comic Tanmay Bhat, who sparked outrage with his Sachin v/s Lata Civil War video, tweeted about having issued a statement over the controversy on one of his social media accounts. But, it turned out to be a lame attempt at making jokes.

Bollywood has been up in arms against the video in which he pits the film industry’s nightingale Lata Mangeshkar against cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. In that, Tanmay says Mangeshkar’s face looks like someone has kept her under water for eight days. He has also gone to the extent of addressing Mangeshkar directly while saying that Jon Snow (a Game Of Thrones character) died and so should she.
As his joke backfired and he found himself at the receiving end of the Twitterati, including Bollywood celebs, he tweeted yesterday evening that he has posted a statement (not apology) on one of his other social media accounts, which he seems to be publicising. However, when we traced the account, it had a series of three pictures of Tanmay, with the captions reading: “Gotcha”, “But thanks for the follow” and “Now you know what your clickbaity headlines feel like”. Seriously, Tanmay?
Bollywood folk slammed the All India Bakchod member for taking humour a little too far. Anupam Kher tweeted: “I am 9 times winner of #BestComicActor. Have a great sense of humor. But This’s NOT humor. #Disgusting&Disrespectful”. Riteish Deshmukh posted: “I am absolutely shocked. Disrespect is not cool and neither is it funny” while Celina Jaitley stated: “Absolutely.. Shocked n appalled!! Not amused @mangeshkarlata ji needs to be apologised to .. NOW !!”
Looks like Tanmay’s civil war video has landed him in a civil war. Ouch!
