According to the reports, most education institutions in the city has been shut down to widespread waterlogging and half-yearly examinations have been postponed.
A rickshaw driver was spotted wading through the murky water with garbage floating atop.
Visuals of residents being rescued from the submerged streets by the State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) surfaced online; likewise NDRF has also been engaged in relief and rescue operation.
The locals are miffed with the authorities and have been questioning them over inaction to address issues pertaining to poor drainage system in the city.
Meanwhile, the authorities have released a helpline number in light of the worsened inundation and said citizens could contact them for any assistance.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), concurrently, has predicted that Assam will see very heavy rainfall till October 7.
