The Delhi High Court Chief Justice D K Upadhyaya led the inquiry, which contained official communications stating that four to five semi-burnt stacks of Indian currency were found.
Justice Varma has categorically denied any connection to the alleged cash, stating that neither he nor his family members placed money in the storeroom. The Delhi High Court Chief Justice D K Upadhyaya led the inquiry, which contained official communications stating that four to five semi-burnt stacks of Indian currency were found.
Visuals released by the Supreme Court show the interior of a storeroom where the cash was allegedly discovered during the firefighting operation. Another set of images includes a combo featuring the entrance of the storeroom and the alleged cash stacks inside.
The report states that the Commissioner of Police submitted a report on 16 March 2025, which mentioned that debris and partially burnt articles were removed from the room after the fire. According to the inquiry, there is no indication of unauthorised access to the room apart from residents, domestic staff, and CPWD personnel, if any.
Justice Upadhyaya’s report suggests that the incident requires a more extensive investigation, given the circumstances surrounding the discovery of cash. The inquiry spans 25 pages and includes multiple pieces of evidence, including videos and photographs taken during the firefighting efforts.

Justice Varma has dismissed the allegations as "totally preposterous" and rejected any claim that the money belonged to him or his family. The unprecedented public release of the inquiry report by the Supreme Court has intensified calls for further scrutiny into the case.
