Miami Vice is the latest series which is getting a reboot treatment. NBC is planning to revive the popular 1980s police procedural, with Fast and Furious duo Vin Diesel and Chris Morgan as producers. Peter Macmanus is set to pen the script for the project.
Created by Anthony Yerkovich and executive-produced by Michael Mann, the original series ran for five seasons on NBC from 1984 to 1989.
Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas starred as the undercover detectives, James Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Rico Tubbs. The show followed the twosome as they took on challenging cases at Miami's police department.
In 2006, Universal released a spin-off feature film of the same name with Mann both directing and writing. The movie tapped Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell to play the main roles.
