Them being an integral part of this movie, the filmmakers talked a lot with Mila, Kathryn and Kristen about casting their moms because they wanted their moms to share the same prototypes as them.

Kristen Bell enjoyed the process, "By introducing our mothers, you see why we are who we are and I think your parents can push your buttons".

Suzanne Todd, the producer, claims that they hit the casting lottery. "The nice thing for us is we had so many great actresses that wanted to be involved with A Bad Moms Christmas, as they had seen Bad Moms and loved the message. We felt like we had a wealth to pick from"
