The Kalyan GRP have caught four people involved in several robberies aboard express trains. While one accused was nabbed by the passengers, the other three were arrested later from Kasara.
The police said the complainant, Uday Siddeshwar Yadav, 32, a resident of Bihar, boarded the Patna Superfast from Kalyan at 1 am on Wednesday. He said four people entered the compartment and started threatening the passengers, snatching cash from their pockets.
“They robbed four passengers including Yadav, taking Rs 11,200 in all. Yadav then caught hold of one of the accused, after which the other three got scared and fled,” said a senior Kalyan GRP officer, adding that they were later apprehended in Kasara.
Passengers handed Sagar Telam, 19, over to the RPF officers on the train. “They took him to Igatpuri police station, where a case has been registered. The accused would target passengers going to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, and then jump off at Kasara when the train would slow down there,” said another officer.
