Venice Film Festival opening ceremony

Sigourney Weaver got emotional as she received the Golden Lion Lifetime Achievement Award at the opening ceremony of the 81st Venice Film Festival.

The legendary star of films such as `Alien,` `Avatar` and `Gorillas in the Mist` was hounoured ahead of the world premiere of `Beetlejuice Beetlejuice`.

For the premiere of `Beetlejuice Beetlejuice`, actress Jenna Ortega, best known for her role as Wednesday Adams stunned in a daring red gown.

Jenna flaunted her sexy back in the sheer outfit made of tule. She went for a bold red lip and tied her hair up in a messy bun.

Jenna was joined by her co-star and renowned actress Winona Ryder, who rather dressed up like Wednesday Adams on the red carpet.

`Beetlejuice Beetlejuice` director Tim Burton arrived with his partner and Italian actress Monica Bellucci, who is also in the film. They twinned in black.

Veteran actress Catherine O`Hara was also in attendance at the film festival. She wore a futuristic black gown that appeared to be made of tangled wires.

Australian actress Cate Blanchett stunned in a strapless silver gown. She accessorised by wearing a string of pearls across her shoulder.
