Declare Wayanad tragedy as ntnl disaster

Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, has urged the Indian government to officially classify the Wayanad landslides as a national disaster.

The designation as a national disaster would potentially unlock additional resources and support for the affected areas.

Gandhi called for an increase in compensation for survivors of disaster; he said that situation is severe & it has had emotional & financial stress on them.

Gandhi shared his personal observations from his visit to Wayanad, where he witnessed the destruction first-hand.

He described the tragic scenes, including entire families being wiped out & highlighted the gravity of the Wayanad landslide.

Gandhi urged the government to implement a comprehensive rehabilitation plan including rebuilding disaster-resistant infrastructure.
