Mehbooba not to contest J-K polls

PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has announced that she will not contest the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections.

Mufti declined contesting polls citing concerns over the inability to fulfil her party`s agenda within the current union territory framework.

Mufti`s decision contrasts with National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah’s recent reversal, who will be contesting polls despite previous opposition.

Mufti criticised the National Conference and Congress alliance, alleging that their collaborations are driven purely by the pursuit of power.

Mufti further expressed a belief that the restoration of Article 370 is essential for addressing key issues in the region.
