The Congress party has intensified its criticism of the Union government`s "Agnipath" military recruitment scheme.
The party pledged to revert to the previous recruitment system if it comes to power.
The party alleges that the scheme has caused "gross injustice" to young aspirants seeking employment in the armed forces.
Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge wrote a note to President Droupadi Murmu highlighting the plight of 2 lakh youth affected by scheme.
Mallikarjun Kharge urged President Murmu to ensure that the youths, enrolled under Agnipath, get justice.
Congress also demanded appointments for those who cleared recruitment process but were not given joining letters due to the introduction of Agnipath.
The Agnipath scheme has faced criticism from many including former Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane.
Critics argued Agnipath creates disparities among soldiers.
They say it could disrupt social stability by releasing recruits into an uncertain job market after four years of service.
