Artificial reefs installed near Worli

RGP Foundation installed artificial reefs in Mumbai as part of marine conservation efforts under initiative called `Project Nature:re`.
Artificial reefs are man-made structures created from materials like cement and steel, strategically placed in the ocean to mimic natural reef environments.
In response to the declining fish population caused by pollution from sewage and plastic waste, artificial reefs have been installed near Worli.
These reefs serve multiple purposes, including removing pollutants from the water and providing a natural filtration process.
As they grow, they become carbon sinks, absorbing carbon from the air and contributing to improved air quality.
RGP`s initiative aims to enhance marine biodiversity & support livelihoods of coastal communities as Mumbai fisherfolks saw drop in income due to low fish count
