Pitru Paksha, also known as Pitri Paksha or Shraddha, will commence on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, and conclude on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. This important period in the Hindu calendar is dedicated to honoring and paying respects to one's ancestors. It spans 16 lunar days during the month of Ashwin, starting with the Purnima Tithi (Full Moon) and ending with the Amavasya Tithi (New Moon) signifying the end of Pitru Paksh. Pitru Paksh holds immense singnificance in Hindu culture. It is believed that during this time, ancestors' souls come to the earth to receive offerings from their descendants. People perform the Shradh ritual to show gratitude and ask for their ancestors' blessings, which helps ensure their peace in the afterlife.
