PM Modi inaugurates Sonamarg’s Z-Morh Tunnel in Kashmir

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently visited Jammu and Kashmir and inaugurated the Sonmarg Tunnel. This 12 km tunnel, built at a cost of over Rs 2,700 crore, includes a 6.4 km main tunnel, an egress tunnel, and approach roads. Located at an altitude of over 8,650 feet, it will improve year-round connectivity between Srinagar and Sonamarg, making travel to Leh safer and faster by avoiding landslides and avalanches. The tunnel is expected to boost tourism in Sonamarg, making it a popular destination throughout the year. It will promote winter tourism, adventure sports, and improve local livelihoods by providing uninterrupted access to the strategically important Ladakh region.
