The Clothing Rental
Shilpa Bhatia, the owner of The Clothing Rental, realised that a good product can be quite expensive, but if she could split the retail price for a nice suit over four or five shoots, it could turn out to be a practical decision. Their gown collection includes simple casual maxi dresses to elegant evening gowns. They also rent out men’s suits, tux and sherwanis. To complete the look, you can also rent shirts, and accessories such as cufflinks, bow ties, ties, lapel pins, pocket squares, and footwear for men, and jewellery, high heels and clutches for women. The standard rental period is three days (which includes the pick-up, event, and return days), but they make exceptions with reduced rates for out-of-town events/occasions. A refundable deposit has to be paid at the time of pick-up.

Inizio
If you’re looking for a super chic and trendy outfit, Inizio is the place to rent or buy dresses, co-ords, jumpsuits and jackets. You can rent out an outfit from people’s stylish closets, or Inizio’s own collection, so you have a wide variety to choose from. To book an outfit, simply message them on their Instagram page, and once the terms and conditions are explained to you, you can select the dates on which you would like to rent the item, and they will pack and ship it to you. You must pay a security deposit, which will be refunded after the quality check. The outfit must be returned on the fifth day. In the event of any kind of damage to an outfit, money will be deducted from your security deposit.

The Big Closet
We all know that weddings can be very expensive, and that the outfits worn on that day do not always come in handy later. So, if you want to have a grand but low-cost celebration, The Big Closet specialises in renting out wedding gowns as well as pre-wedding and maternity clothes. Their collection includes everything from intricately designed lehengas to lovely evening ball gowns. They also make custom outfits for photoshoots and pageants. You can either visit their store in person to rent an outfit or book your outfit through WhatsApp. You can return the outfits by subscribing to one of the following plans: 24 hours, three days, five days, or seven days. A deposit is required at the time of pick-up— R2,000 for western wear and R5,000 to R10,000 for heavy Indian outfits—and once booked, an outfit cannot be cancelled or the money for it returned.
