The ASUS Zenbook Flip S is a convertible premium laptop that can turn into a tablet, complete with a touch screen and a pressure-sensitive pen. The Flip S is tiny, with a screen size of just 13.3 and weighing just 1.2 kg. Despite its diminutive size, it packs a walloping number of features. Let’s start with the screen. It’s a 4K screen with a 178-degree viewing angle and it does 100 per cent DCI-P3 colour gamut, which means the colours will be on point.

The computer is running Intel’s latest Tigerlake i7 processors, which are much better than previous generations at handling graphics. It can play most older games like GTA 5 at usable frame rates. Don’t expect it to play CyberPunk 2077 or something like Microsoft flight simulators at higher settings though. The i7 is paired with 16GB DDR4 Ram and a 1TB SSD for a super-fast responsive Windows 10 experience.
It is lacking in terms of ports, there are 2 USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, which can be used with a dongle to pretty much connect anything you like, one USB 3.2 and a standard HDMI. Missing here are the Lan ports and headphone jack. That is remedied with a USB-C to Audio jack, which is essentially an external soundcard and a USB LAN port. If you are plugged in for charging, add the soundcard and the LAN port, and you have no more ports left.
The LAN port functioned well and because it is so tiny, it isn’t an inconvenience to carry around. The sound card, on the other hand, was sketchy. It didn’t work well when I used a wired phone headset. The sound was fine, but the microphone refused to work. The speakers on the laptop are fairly loud and if you don’t have to use a headphone then the in-built mics are efficient.
The keyboard is tiny to match the frame, I like mine to be desktop size so I found it a little crammed. I love the hidden Numpad in the touchpad, it is a space-saving feature we have seen on other ASUS laptops. Here, they have improved it, making it very usable.
This laptop is called Flip for a reason, push the screen back a lot more than it should be in typical laptops and this thing turns into a tablet. For a tablet, it is a little heavier than I would have liked, but with the pressure-sensitive pen, it is great for taking down notes quickly.
The Flip S performed very well on battery, giving more than 12 hours on a single charge, as long as I wasn’t playing a game. It also has a Intel EVO sticker, which is reserved for the very best laptops that are packed with features and performance to match.
The Zenbook Flip S is an excellent tiny laptop, especially if you are looking at it for work. It is pricey at Rs 1.47 lakh but this is expected with all the features packed into this small frame. The battery life is impressive if you are just working. The Zenbook Flip S is a work of art, so if you don’t game much and you can afford it, go for it.
