In 2020, Surbhi Dhoot, who has always played around with rhymes, found her calling when she met a typewriter busker. Who’s that? It’s an age-old European trade for poets. They sit at town squares and fire out a couplet for those who want to gift a poem to their friends and lovers. “Soon, I began busking with my typewriter at cafes, and at events such as [IIT-Bombay’s annual festival] Mood Indigo, for those who wanted to say something to their loved ones, but couldn’t find the right words,” says Dhoot. She has since written almost 300 poems via busking and Instagram orders, which also include affirmations and other words of encouragement as part of a small gift box.

RECOMMENDED BY: Abhishek Singh (31), Deputy Commissioner Indian Revenue Service “Surbhi’s poetic prowess is nothing short of extraordinary. Surbhi also possesses an innate talent  for evoking empathy and connection through her poetry.”
