Meet a person with a skill you can use
Rodrigues’ work involves screening children for learning deficiencies, drawing up individual education plans and working towards set goals through remediation and counselling. Her sessions are personalised and she starts by counselling parents and after the initial screening, works with both parents and children. She tries to observe any behavioural issues, and after every 10 sittings, discusses progress and chalks out a plan for the way forward. Rodrigues, who trained at the National Academy, SIES College of Arts, Science and Commerce, and the Drishti Learning Centre in Mumbai took a sabbatical from her job in 2010. She took up teaching and it was then that she came across students who were diagnosed with learning disorders. A few sessions with her brought about a difference in their academic and behavioural issues.
