Pune-based industrialist and horse owner Vijay Shirke was elected chairman of the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) managing committee at the 106th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the race club held on Thursday.

Former members Jaydev Mody, Ram Shroff and Sunil Jhangiani re-entered the elite group after a gap of one or more years. Besides Shirke, others on the last committee who got successfully re-elected were Surendra Sanas, KN Dhunjibhoy and Jahangir Mehta.
