American star Tiger Woods is one of the greatest golfers of all time and his life has been nothing less than dramatic, both personally and professionally.
According to People magazine, co-director Matthew Heineman and Matthew Hamachek discuss what drew them to make two-part series, Tiger, in which they try to show the golfer’s “larger than life” legacy.

“The expectations that his father, his sponsors, his fans and the world at large thrust upon him were impossible to live up to, and what we learned is that the projected persona didn’t match the reality of who Tiger was or whom he has ever aspired to be. So as a filmmaker, I gravitated toward the opportunity to find the deeper truths in his story,” said Heineman.
Meanwhile, Hamachek said in order to give the documentary clout and depth, they wanted to talk to people closest to the athlete, who “were around Tiger at pivotal points in his life.” “This included his high-school girlfriend and first true love, Dina Gravell; his caddie, of 11 years, Steve Williams; and the woman at the center of the scandal in 2009, Rachel Uchitel,” said Hamachek.
