Supernatural, trained by Pesi Shroff, posted a facile victory in the Madras Race Club Cup, the feature event of Sunday's eight-race Mahalaxmi card. Jockey P Trevor settled Supernatural last of three as Kamaria set a leisurely pace ahead of Truly Epic, and after negotiating the final turn, Trevor just nudged the piping hot on-money favourite, who passed both his rivals in a trice, and sailed away for an eight-length victory.

Trevor rode another Shroff-trained winner when, lying second from last, he brought bay filly Mariana (Admiralty - Age Of Elegance) with a flourish, covering more than six lengths to overhaul leader Zarafat who had assumed command soon on turning for home. Mariana won the Fun Fast Fair Trophy by Sportsbet.io clocking 1m:38.783s for the mile trip.

Trevor was clearly on a roll by this time, and immediately in the next race, rode yet another winner to complete a quick hat-trick, this time for trainer Malesh Narredu, whose Eaton Square outclassed the field in the Sonny Brar Trophy.

The ace jockey thus marched to the top of the championship tally board, tying up with S Saqlain at 12 points each, attempted a straight fourth win in the upper division of the Indian Air Force Trophy, giving a vigorous ride to the Karthik-trained Lord Vader, only to get upstaged in the last 25m when apprentice Haridas Gore astride the Faisal Abbas-trained nine-year-old Cipher swooped onto him to snatch the race. The lower division of the same race was won by Nairobi (MS Deora up), saddled by trainer Vinesh.

The card opened with the Sportsbet.io Prestige Mile, for class III horses, which saw three of the five horses in the fray--Bubbly Boy, Kariena & Opus sharing favouritism jointly at 5/2 each in the bookmakers' ring. However, on the racetrack none of the three, despite all-out effort by their riders, could threaten the Narendra Lagad-trained Alpine Star who was taken on a successful start-to-finish mission by jockey Mustakim Alam.

Three horses were separated by half a length in the Sportsbet.io Million, Gambino (Top Class - Jersey Beauty), ridden by Neeraj Rawal, managing to put his neck ahead in virtually the last stride. Gambino was trained by G Karthik, who also claimed the World's Oldest Barbershop Trophy with Caliph (R Ajinkya up).
